Go Take a Hike - Get Your Feet Wet
Head outside for a PADDLE on Pottsburg Creek. While we are enjoying the outdoors, we will talk about the history, ecology, and issues facing our St. Johns River.

In September, St. Johns Riverkeeper has partnered with All Wet Sports to get out on the water for this 'Hike'! PADDLE Pottsburg Creek from 9:00a-11:00a to learn about what a watershed is, the importance of tributary health in regards to land development, and to test the turbidity. Registration is required for all participants, beginners are welcome! All participants will need to have signed waiver forms for St. Johns Riverkeeper (provided in email prior to trip date or paper copies will be available on site), and those renting will need to sign one for All Wet Sports (provided day of trip). Adults are responsible for their children and any age is welcome. 

You are welcome to use your own kayak or canoe (registration is still required), please be sure to bring an age appropriate PFD for every family member in the boat. Don't own a kayak but still want to come? NO PROBLEM! Contact All Wet Sports at 904-646-9887 to rent one. Rental cost is all inclusive (kayak/canoe, back rest, pfd), $20 for single kayak, $30 for tandem. Children under the age of 12 need to be in a boat with an adult.

**Please be advised that Pottsburg Creek is considered an impaired tributary due to its high levels of fecal coliform from surrounding area septic tanks. We do not encourage anyone to touch or go into the water. Be sure to wash your hands thoroughly after getting back to shore and shower upon returning home. See water quality results HERE. St. Johns Riverkeeper Educator will have a first aid kit on hand, but please feel free to bring your own.
